NYSASBO is starting a users' group on the Forecast5 data analytics system. Forecast5 combines a number of products to compare, forecast and analyze data on New York State school districts. The system allows users to tell their story with quality data visualizations that communicate to a wide audience. The data include annual financial report (ST3) data, Report Card data, BEDS data, Class Size data, Live Birth data, etc. The types of analyses relate to student achievement, staffing, budgeting, negotiations and other areas.
The Forecast5 Users Group will be co-chaired by NYSASBO’s Dr. Deborah Cunningham and Otsego Northern Catskill BOCES’ Dr. Jennifer Bolton Carls. It will meet four to five times during the school year to:
1. Share successful data analysis strategies that advance a school district’s mission
2. Examine ways Forecast5 can serve as a tool to enhance NYSASBO’s New York State Business Connect, a networking system of online communities to foster exchange among school business officials, district clerks, treasurers and payroll personnel.
3. Identify areas where the system can be improved for sharing with system developers
4. Provide some support for people learning the system
We are seeking persons with the following qualifications:
1. Experienced in using Forecast5 and sharing that experience with others
2. Not knowledgeable about Forecast5 but seriously interested in learning about and using Forecast5 and willing to collaborate with others in the Users Group
3. Interest in the connection between finance and learning with primary expertise in finance, learning or both.
